TITLE: Parts Counterperson - 1st Shift
REPORTS TO: Parts Manager
MAIN OBJECTIVE:Sell parts to all customers, over the counter, through the shop, or on the phone as well as seeking out and soliciting additional parts business. Help to achieve the parts department monthly sales objective.

- Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent

- Must have basic mathematical skills (must be able to add, subtract, and work with fractions and percentages)
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Assists all customers (retail and shop) in selecting required parts in a friendly, professional, and efficient manner.
- Solicits customers, at the parts counter, by telephone and also direct contact, for parts and accessories sales.
- Informs customers of companion part requirements and specials, and ensures that the customer is exposed to the full product line.
- Provides delivery service of orders requested.
- Answers phone calls, providing price quotes and other information.
- Maintains customer order and back order files.
- Provides high level of service to internal and external customers.
- Pulls and fills orders from stock.
- Notifies parts manager of out-of-stock parts or shop materials that need immediate attention.
- Locates out-of-stock parts from outside source and submits an emergency order, if necessary.
- Notifies the retail customers when all the parts have arrived.
- Follows up on back-ordered parts.
- Replenishes assigned inventory daily.
- Makes sure all internal requests for parts are billed on service repair order.
- Receives payment from retail customers or obtains credit authorization.
- Ensures that the customer signs all charge sales.
- Ensures that all customers receive their copy of the invoice.
- Issues credit for parts returned, ensuring that the original invoice, or its number, is available so that purchase and pricing can be verified.
- Sets up orders for daily shipment, delivery, or pick-up.
- Solicits assigned accounts by phone.
- Keeps front and rear counter areas clean and uncluttered.
- Participates in all training programs that are made available.
- Keeps current on new products and product updates.
- Participates with the parts manager in maintaining inventory control through management reports (i.e. lost sales, negative-on-hand, no bin-no cost, etc.)
- Works with the manufacturer requirements on warranty control and return.
- Returns parts as needed (i.e. obsolete and/or non-moving inventory) and removes from inventory.
- Assists in preparing for and performing annual parts inventory.
- Maintains facilities and equipment, ensuring cleanliness and safety.
- Other duties as assigned.
Understands, keeps abreast of, and complies with federal, state, and local regulations that affect the parts department operations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know, etc.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:
- Maintains a professional appearance.
- Attends departmental meetings.
- Understands, keeps abreast of, and complies with all company policies and guidelines as written in our company handbook.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:Will spend eight hours or more a day moving throughout the parts department. Will stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, handle, and feel. Will climb ladders to get parts from shelves. Will be required to lift up to 50 pounds. WORK ENVIRONMENT:Will be exposed to noise, dust, exhaust fumes, paint and other hazardous and non-hazardous materials. Will encounter slippery floors and other potentially hazardous conditions.
