TITLE: Body Shop Technician
REPORTS TO: Shop Foreman/Body Shop Manager
MAIN OBJECTIVE:
Repair damaged body parts and bodies of vehicles in accordance with factory and dealership specifications and time standards
QUALIFICATIONS:

- Valid Drivers License
- Must maintain condition of insurability through our current liability insurance carrier
- I-CAR certified or the ability to obtain certification
- Excellent organizational skills
- Must have own tools
- Professional conduct when communicating to customers
- Must have basic mathematical skills (must be able to add, subtract, and work with fractions and percentages)
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Repairs vehicles per estimate and according to manufacturer standards
- Checks parts against estimate and ensure proper parts are ordered and received
- Prepares vehicles for body repair work
- Notifies management on a timely basis of any additional parts and repairs needed to prevent delays
- Notifies management of any difficulties or problems that may prevent a quality job from being performed or cause a change in the promised time
- Able to use frame/unibody equipment to repair vehicle to factory standards
- Able to mix and spray primer per industry standards
- Maintains tools and equipment in a proper state of repair
- Cooperates and assists other personnel in the repair and prepping of vehicles
- Communicate to management any problems with estimates, repair orders, or damage to vehicles being serviced
- Maintains and wears all required safety and health personal protective equipment, including respirator, in the manner recommended by the equipment manufacturer
- Complies with all laws and regulations pertaining to paint, thinners, and other hazardous materials. Reports any deviations to management
- Maintains facilities and equipment, ensuring cleanliness and safety.
- Understands, keeps abreast of, and complies with federal, state, and local regulations that affect Body Shop operations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to Know, etc
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:
- Operates all tools and equipment in a safe manner
- Maintains a professional appearance.
- Attends departmental meetings.
- Understands, keeps abreast of, and complies with all company policies and guidelines as written in our company handbook.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Will spend eight hours or more a day moving throughout the Body Shop department. Will stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, handle, and feel. Will be required to lift up to 50 pounds. Will use hand and power tools and engage in repetitive actions on occasion. WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Will be exposed to noise, dust, exhaust fumes, paint and other hazardous and non-hazardous materials. Will encounter slippery floors and other potentially hazardous conditions.
